The Battle of Lone Jack was one of the ten most under rated battles of the civil war. Maj. Emory S. Foster, under orders, led an 800-man combined force from Lexington to Lone Jack. Soon afterwards, this force attacked the Confederate camp and a battle ensued that involved charges, retreats, and counterattacks. This was a Confederate victory, but the Rebels had to evacuate the area soon afterward, when threatened by the approach of large Union forces.

Civil War Battle of Lone Jack site and museum is just 10 minutes east of Lee’s Summit on 50 Highway to Bynum Road. For more information call 816-697-8833 or visit their web site: Battle of Lone Jack
